Rio Celeste Waterfall & Hiking Tour - from $176
Located in the northwest flank of Volcán Tenorio, a steep-faced, archetypically conical cone rising to 1,916 meters. The volcano is lushly forested in cloud forest and montane rainforest protected within Parque Nacional Volcán Tenorio.One of the wildlife representative of the rain forest hiking is; three toed sloth, two toed sloth, howler and white-faced monkeys, agoutis, ocelots, toucans, tanagers, and many other bird species. Hike to the Celeste River is the sight of an unusual natural phenomenon where the river and its rocks suddenly turn light blue due to minerals washed off the ground into the river. These minerals are the result of the rivers location on the sides of the dormant Tenorio Volcano and the remaining vents from the depths of the volcano. We will then follow the river downstream for a refreshing encounter with an enormous waterfall that spills down the sides of the volcano.
What to bring: Hat, hiking shoes, lightweight raincoat, long and wide trousers, bottle water, insect repellent, camera, and cash money for extras.
