Rincon de la vieja national park is located in the Cordillera de Guanacaste, 25 km northeast of Liberia, the capital of Guanacaste province. This park is over 14,161 hectares of land, 400 km2 form the volcanic action of nine eruptions points area of the active volcano, this consist in a series of fumaroles and boiling mud pits.Rincon de la Vieja National Park, is one of Costa Rica´s most diverse ecological parks; is home of around 300 species of birds and the largest population in wildlife from the national flower of Costa Rica, named `Guaria morada`, a beautiful purple orchid.

The last period of intense activity occurred between 1966 and 1975 and the most recent eruptions were in 1998.

What to bring:
Long pants, hiking shoes or sneakers, water proof jacket, hat, insect repellent, binoculars and camera.
